Supermarket Tour – Brighton
The OCV Supermarket tour is a 90 minute Dietitian guided walk through the supermarket. The aim of this tour is to assist you to make more informed decisions when purchasing food. The tour may help you rediscover foods that may assist with symptoms relating to your cancer, treatment and nutrition status. If you have completed treatment it will help to consume foods that can improve your overall health.
Eating well is important if you have been diagnosed with cancer. You may be losing weight or have already lost weight unintentionally.
Your appetite and taste buds may change during treatment and this is different for everyone. Once favoured foods may no longer be your favourite. Having less food or avoiding certain food reduces the variety of healthy foods that you may benefit from.
The Cancer Council recommends that everyone should have a healthy varied diet. There is often confusion regarding what to eat for cancer, during and after treatment. There is no specific diet or eating plan that has been proven to cure cancer and therefore no special foods to eat or avoid, however it is important to eat a healthy varied diet after cancer treatment and have a healthy weight.
Our OCV Dietitian will educate you on the right food to eat during and after cancer treatment and cover topics such as:
- Macronutrients such as protein
- Food claims
- Nutrition information labels
- Taste changes
- Constipation and fibre
- and more..
A workbook will be provided at the beginning of the tour to use throughout.
Partners are invited to join the tour, but need to indicate in the registration form below as group numbers are limited. Please feel free to ask any questions throughout the tour.
